Fishing for Lake Trout on Keuka Lake, New York State Finger Lakes - May 29, 2009

Hit Counter

Dad and I got the boat going and both motors ran just great.  It was a beautiful day on Keuka Lake with a very calm surface and surprisingly not much boat traffic for Memorial Day weekend.  We put in at the State launch in Branchport and trolled south past Bluff Point.  The fish were active according to the Finder, marking fish from the surface down to 125'.  We had two poles running flatfish and two rigs running various spoons, four leaders per rig.  Both trout were caught on the spoons but we think we had a hit on one of the flatfish.  Finger Lakes trout must be 15" minimum to keep and our two little guys measured about 19" each.  For some reason dad did not want to cook the fish on Monday so I brought them home and grilled them.  A little olive oil, salt-pepper and just a touch of McCormick's Montreal seasoning and they were fantastic.  Even Donna liked it!  Just a great day on the water and hanging with my dad!
