Dry Suit Diver Specialty, York Divers UW Christmas Tree Dive, Bainbridge Scuba Center, 7-Dec-2008
The building at Lower A was lighted and heated as usual and we had coffee brewing too. Jeff is always kind enough to add his 'lil splash of Irish apres scuba to spice up the coffee, and warm those areas that the dry suit doesn't address. Thanks Jeff. It was a great day of diving and decorating with many faces present. Sara made this day a two-fer, braving the cold water with hardy dive buddy Colleen sporting a farmer jane. Theta and Becky were ever present in their neoprene, making fast work of the tree decorating chores before hypothermia set in, just kidding...the cookies rocked Becky, thanks! Tibz, George and Mayo made way for finding resting places for our next UW feature at BSC, the gray pickup truck. We started the dismantling a couple of weeks ago but do not expect to finish the demo/cleanup work and sink it until the Spring thaw. They said the vis below 80' is dismal to terrible, since the water column is not yet finished mixing after a summer of thermoclines. It was a great crowd for this annual event and we can add five new dry suit divers to the mix. There were too many others there to name but we had nice support from the York Divers' staff and participation from many in our diving community. Congratulations to Adam, Mike, Jeff and John for completing their Dry Suit Diver Specialty training! We expect to see you on the dive site during our first real winter storm; we'll be sure to remind that we will be diving! We had a group of 12 stop at McCleary's Pub in Marietta to gas up the belly and rehydrate after a great day of diving and decorating! Many thanks to Jim Grim at York Divers for acquiring the Christmas tree,
providing heat for the building and managing Dry Suit equipment. (Note: there were other photographers in action...watch for more pics at www.yorkdivers.com, or email them to me and I'll add them here for you) Next up: New Year's Day Dive, 11:00am, BSC
