MSDT Prep Class - Dutch Springs - May 7, 2005

Course Directors Nick Jenny and Chris Donnelly of Blue Horizons and their gang were out in full force at Dutch this week and weekend. Kalen Pascal was so cute in his little frumpy borrowed dry suit!  I was honored to help him dress!  In addition to our MSDT prep class with James Simpson and Rob Lyskowicz, they had several other certs going on.  One of my PADI Specialty classes was UW Photography.  I thought I'd share a few of the images I captured with my Sony DSC-P10 in the Sony Marine Pak housing, Sea & Sea 16mm wide angle lens, on an Ultra Light pivoting tray.  Unfortunately I'm still working out the bugs with my Ikelite DS-125 digital strobe and manual EV controller mounted on this new tray so my pics used only ambient lighting.

Nick waiting patiently...

Here comes Rob Lyskowicz..

Nick & Rob getting set for the Deep Specialty skills.

James Simpson snapping away for the UW Photo Specialty.

Bubbles everywhere.

More of the pumping station.

Rob says, where did Nick go...?

Always giving directions, our fearless leader.

Moving NW along the wall back to the pier.

Nick & Rob pause for James to capture their mugs.

A little closer...

Vis from 72'

Bubbles go up...

A great wall shot, even if it is from behind, Nick...

Around the point, headed to the exit. 40ffw here.

Is she pregnant?

I wish the strobe was firing so you could see her pretty rainbow colors.

Nick says, "I am fish!"

Entry/exit platforms in the water.

Dive #3, UW nav to the Cessna on the island. James and Aaron the background on the upline as Nick watches on...

If I may say so, a great shot of the Cessna's lousy landing...

James cruising the north wall of the island.

Here comes Rob at 30'. Nice vis eh?

A slightly different perspective.

Turning the dive, rounding the east end of the island.

Zebra mussels galore.

The grasslands on the south side of the island.

Rob's Scubapro Twin Jets at work. Nice trim too!

James and Aaron back at the Cessna under Nick's watchful eye.

Rob closeup, on the north side of the island. Oh what I would have done for a little touch of fill flash.

Scubapro twin jet closeup. Rob proves that a frog kick in Twin Jets does work.
